The area became known as Underhill’s Crossing after they built a wooden bridge.
By designing grand homes in a rustic atmosphere, millionaire real estate and pharmaceutical entrepreneur William Van Duzer Lawrence spurred Bronxville’s growth as an exclusive suburb of NYC.
