The sheriff's office released some sad news on the morning of October 6th – Edward M. Carvey, of Hannibal, has died after sustaining injuries in a Scriba industrial accident on October 4th. News of Mr. Carvey's death reached the sheriff's office on Wednesday afternoon.
Mr. Carvey had been an employee with Novelis Inc. in Scriba. He was at work at 448 County Route 1A at the time of the accident. Mr. Carvey was reportedly injured by a piece of machinery at the aluminum rolling plant. It was unclear if he was operating the machinery at the time.
Because his injuries were so serious, he was taken first to Oswego Hospital, but was soon transferred to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. Oswego County 9-1-1 workers report that Mr. Carvey went into full arrest early on, but was revived at least once.
An OSHA investigation of the worksite has already begun, but no further information about their findings has been released.
The New York workers' compensation lawyers with Markhoff & Mittman, PC are extremely saddened at this news. We wish to offer our sincerest condolences to the friends of family of Mr. Carvey in this difficult time.
