Although we like to think of hospitals as safe places, two hospital workers were injured after an unthinkable shooting occurred in the Mount Eden area of the Bronx. The incident took place on the night of Wednesday, November 9th while both victims were at work at the hospital.

At around 7:00 PM, a man entered the waiting room of Bronx-Lebanon Hospital's emergency room with a concealed gun. He then fired at least one confirmed shot into the waiting room. Officials say two hospital workers were injured in the shooting: one security guard, who was hit in the lower body, and one nurse, who was hit in the shoulder.

Police are investigating the incident but have not yet disclosed whether or not they have a suspect in custody at this time. Reports say that police are investigating the possibility that it was a gang-related shooting. It is not believed that either hospital employee was the actual intended target.

Fortunately, no one was seriously injured. Both workers were treated and are reported to be in stable condition.

The Bronx workers' compensation lawyers with Markhoff & Mittman wish both workers a speedy recovery after this tragic shooting in the workplace.
