OSHA has announced a new photo contest to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the organization. The contest, called Picture It!: Safe Workplaces for Everyone challenges amateur photographers to showcase workplace safety in picture form and share it.

The contest’s overall goal is to start a national collaboration using the talents, imagination, and creativity to keep awareness on the importance of safety and health at work. The contest imposes no particular themes.

Photographs will be judged and prizes will be awarded based on the most outstanding portrayals of health and safety in the work environment with a focus on the artist quality and the awareness value to the public.

Judging criteria for the contest includes:

  • Photo quality
  • Suitability for publishing the photo in OSHA publications
  • Clarity of health and safety message being portrayed
  • Originality
  • Creativity
  • Use of workplace, employees, and employers
