New York Transit Museum
Our experienced work accident lawyers in Brooklyn, NY have sponsored this post to encourage others to get out and explore the history of Brooklyn’s transit system.
Founded in 1976, the New York Transit Museum is committed to sharing and documenting the stories of public transit – incredible technological achievements, workers who worked in tunnels over a hundred years ago, dramatically changed cities, and the ever-evolving infrastructure, architecture, and driving of a network that operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
Housed underground in an original 1936 subway station in downtown Brooklyn, the operating platform floor of the Transit Museum covers a full block of the city and is home to a revolving collection of twenty antique subway and elevated cars dating back to 1907.
Visitors can ride the antique vehicles, sit on a public bus drum, walk through a time corridor with turnstiles, and experience changing displays that illustrate the economic, financial, and engineering past with mass transit.
