A highway worker from the town of Mamaroneck was killed last Friday after he was run over at the sanitation and recycling center in town. The 35-year old worker, Robert Delvecchio, was leaving the center with his co-workers around 7:15am.

The driver of the truck was questioned in the accident but as of now no charges have been filed. Both the Westchester County police department and the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are investigating the details of the freak accident.

Delvecchio's family has reported that authorities have not provided many more details on what occurred. Immediately after the accident, he was transported to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx where he died in route.

Delvecchio was a 1994 graduate of Harrison High School and was recognized as Westchester's first bicentennial baby. He was a married, father of one son, age 4. The investigation continues into his death.
