Prospect Park

Prospect Park has so much to explore with over 585-acres of gorgeous scenic oasis. There are thousands of ways to enjoy Prospect Park, whether you’re interested in cricket, birdwatching, cycling, or nature programs.

Explore the list for some of Prospect Park’s favorite games and check out their schedule of events for regular activities and services like school holidays, weekends, and more.

Activities

Prospect Park attracts cyclists of all abilities and ages. Bicycling is permitted on the Park Drives, including the 3,35-mile loop, which hosts a variety of cycling activities all year round.

Enjoy a scenic boating experience on the lake using either a pedal boat or a kayak available at the LeFrak Center.

While you’re on the lake, take advantage of catch-and-release fishing. You can find largemouth bass, bluegill, pumpkinseed sunfish, and more.

Located along the Atlantic Flyway, Prospect Park is perfect for bird watching, with more than 250 species seen each year, including migrant songbirds in spring and fall, and an extensive range of waterfowl and resident birds year-round.

Places To Go

Prospect Park Audubon Center was designed to allow visitors to explore the diversity of nature through public programs. There you can find a place of active discovery, with hand-on exhibits for both children and adults to enjoy.

Carved in 1912 by Charles Carmel, one of the foremost carousel designers of all time, Prospect Park’s Children’s Corner Carousel is still one of the most popular attractions. Children can choose to ride one of 53 horses, lions, giraffes, deer, and dragon-pilled chariots.

Founded in the 18th-century farming village of Flatbush by a Dutch family, Lefferts Historic House features a working garden, historical objects, rooms, and exhibits from the period. Visitors are invited to play traditional instruments, toys, and games and participate in historic tasks such as making candles, sewing, and churning butter.

As you can see, there are tons of possibilities and activities to explore at Prospect Park. After spending the day there, try one of our favorite eclectic bars nearby for a refreshing beverage and bites.
