A New York construction worker was killed recently on the job when falling pipes struck him. The worker was unloading a truck with other workers when large pipes contained in the truckload fell out and on top of him. The worker was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

The construction worker was 55 years old. Abbas Behnam-Bakhsh was a resident of Staten Island. The pipe was being lifted off the flatbed truck using a forklift. The pipe measured at 15-foot in length and was being unloaded in a storm sewer project.. Behnam-Bakhsh was an employee of Bedford Construction. The work was being completed on Governors Island in an effort to repair the sea wall.

 

Two other workers were also injured and taken to Bellevue hospital with minor injuries. The accident occurred about 8:30 am.
