The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire —€“ Could it Really Happen Again?

As March 25th approaches those of us in the world of Workers Compensation are preparing to remember The 104th Anniversary of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire.

I was shocked and dismayed to read a recent news article about  a Manhattan store that exposed its employees to fire and crushing hazards – where inspectors found emergency exits blocked by boxes and poorly illuminated signs or no signs at all. Just one spark and a fire could have and would have killed many employees. It’s a sad commentary on the state of work environments and the safety of workers that over 100 years after the most deadly work related fire – caused mainly by blocked and locked exits that the same thing could happen again!
