New York Worker Injured in Fall from Lift on Long Island Worksite

A worker was injured on November 29th at Brookhaven Lab on Long Island. Although some details of the accident were available, the name and condition of the injured worker had not yet been released at the time of this report.

Apparently, the worker sustained injuries in a 16-foot fall from a lift while at work at the Brookhaven Lab. The building in which the incident took place had been the site of a graphite research reactor.  The reactor mentioned is now being dismantled. Although no specifics were given about the worker's injuries, it has been stated that a radiation scan was performed after the accident and was negative.

Upton's Brookhaven National Lab employs approximately 3000 people and is involved in research related to environmental science, biomedical science, and energy, among other concerns. The worker's injury fall is still being investigated, and the reasons for the fall were unclear.
