New York State Workers’ Comp Board Planning Modernization

The NY State Workers’ Compensation Board has announced they are planning to modernize their operations. The Board released last week a RFP (Request for Proposal) concerning a re-engineering which will revolutionize the methods for processing and monitoring claims throughout the state. The new system will increase performance and efficiency by changing the way stakeholders interact with the Board and with each other.

The project involves leveraging business processes and their improvements and new technology to increase system efficiency within all areas of the Board and its functions. These improvements are expected to improve services to New York’s businesses and for injured New York workers.

In the press release offered by the Workers’ Compensation Board, the projects upgrades were said to:

The Board announced earlier they intend to transition from a paper to an electronic employer report of injury system using a national reporting standard. Submissions start in 2013 will be required to be made electronically using the national standard, according to the NY State Workers’ Compensation Board’s recent press release.
