A construction worker was hurt in an accident at the Kennedy airport. The site of the construction project involved a demolition of the vacant Terminal 3 at the airport. The Port Authority representatives said the worker was struck in the leg when debris from the demolition project fell.
The terminal was iconic as it was in the shape of a flying saucer that was built more than a half century ago and was the home of Pan Am Airlines. Delta later occupied the terminal since 1991. Eventually the terminal became one of the most endangered historic buildings in America according to the Natural Trust for Historic Preservation. It was scheduled to be demolished in order to create more room for airplane parking.
The worker on site was not identified but was said to have received minor injuries in the collapse. He was seen walking after the accident with a limp.
