Oyster Bay, NY: Man Fatally Hit By Snow Plow
On January 24th, 2016 a man who was standing in front of his home was struck by a snow plow that was clearing the property after the storm Jonas dumped over two feet of snow in New York.
The police and EMT’s were called and the man was rushed to Northwell Health Syosset Hospital where he was declared dead. The police have not finished their investigation but they do not suspect criminality.
Pleasantville, NY: 90–Year-Old Pedestrian Hit By Car
A 90-year-old man who was well known for being a local music teacher died on Sunday, January 24th, 2016 after being struck by a car.
The police reported that the accident happened around 11 a.m. on Washington Avenue.. They would not further comment on the accident or the ongoing investigation.
Valley Stream, NY: Three People Injured In Multi-Car Accident
A three car accident sent three people to the hospital. The accident occurred when a 36-year-old man los
t control of his car and jumped the median. He then struck a 55-year-old woman who was driving in the opposite direction, eastbound. The impact of this crash sent both cars into a third car that was also traveling in the eastbound lanes.
The first driver was taken to the hospital and police reported that he was in critical condition. The two women drivers of the other cars were also taken to the hospital but with non-life threatening injuries.
Mendon, NY: Stranded Men Hit By Snow Plow
The police have reported that one man was injured and another died after they were hit by a snow plow while attempting to get help.
Three men were in a pickup truck which became stranded sometime after midnight. They left the vehicle and attempted to wave down help from oncoming traffic. Two of the men were stuck by a snow plow. Authorities arrived and took both men to the hospital where one was pronounced dead and the other was treated for his injuries.
Binghamton, NY: Tractor Trailer Rear-Ends Vehicle
A man operating a tractor trailer on Interstate 81 rear-ended a Chevrolet Cobalt on the highway near Exit 2 at about 4:40 a.m. on January 22nd, 2016.
The car was then pushed into the back of a GMC conversion van. The driver of the car was crushed between the two vehicles. When police arrived, the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident closed down one lane of the highway for several hours.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
