Two men were injured at work in Yorktown on August 19th when a motorist veered off the road. Both men were struck and had to be transported to the hospital from the scene of the accident. The two men were part of a highway crew involved in pavement marking on Route 202.

The motorist, 31-year-old Mabel C. Martinez, was reportedly driving drunk when her car veered out of the lane and onto the worksite. Police say her blood alcohol content was over .18; she was charged with two misdemeanors related to driving while intoxicated. Martinez also received a ticket for failure to keep right. The next court date for Martinez is scheduled for September 20th.

Both workers experienced injuries described as "significant," but neither man was expected to have sustained life-threatening injuries in the New York worksite accident.

The respected New York disability attorneys with Markhoff & Mittman, P.C. wish both workers a speedy recovery and warn motorists to never get behind the wheel after drinking.
